Job Description • Full-Time • Remote • 10.000 USD Empowers the healthcare workforce with technology-first solutions to optimize the clinical workforce. By combining our AI-powered staffing platform with dynamic labor marketplaces, we help leading employers automate the matching and fulfillment of clinical staff---driving down labor costs and reducing administrative burden. Our mission, to help people everywhere get care, has support from top institutional investors such as Craft Ventures, Felicis Ventures, Stepstone, and Founder Collective as well as healthcare innovators like Texas Medical Center, Mercy Health, Intermountain Ventures, and Town Hall Ventures. What we are looking for: We are looking for a Staff or Principal Software Engineer to lead the engineering of our On-Demand module, the part of the Works platform that lets hospitals fill open shifts with their own workforce. You will own the module end to end, from ingesting demand out of hospital workforce-management systems through shift matching, incentive pricing, and the mobile experience nurses use to claim shifts, and you will work as a pair with the On-Demand Product Manager to shape what we build and why. The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of experience, including several years owning production Ruby on Rails and React systems at Staff level or above, deep experience with third-party integrations, and a record of setting engineering standards other teams adopt. Beyond technical depth, we value ownership of outcomes, the ability to design out recurring failures, mentoring that grows the engineers around you, and clear communication with product, business, and leadership. This position is remote, however, applicants must be based in Brazil and fluent in both English and Portuguese. Your responsibilities: • Own the architecture, technical roadmap, and operational health of the On-Demand module: demand ingestion from UKG and ShiftWizard, shift gaps and matching, claim eligibility, incentive pricing, FTE attainment, timecard audits, and the GraphQL API used by web and mobile. • Pair with the On-Demand Product Manager on discovery, roadmap, and trade-offs, bringing an engineering perspective on cost, risk, and sequencing. • Lead design reviews and write architecture decision records; ensure architecture consistency across the pod and with neighboring teams. • Deliver platform improvements (observability, testing strategy, CI/CD, data pipelines, integration frameworks) that make other squads more productive. • Design out recurring production failures; own the hardest on-call and production issues and set up alerting before issues reach customers. • Mentor engineers in the pod, raise the bar in code review, and grow the next generation of senior engineers. • Approach all engineering work with a security and data-protection lens appropriate to healthcare data. • Use AI-assisted development fluently and coach the team on responsible, high-judgment use. • Communicate clearly and proactively with engineering, product, business, and leadership. Who you are: • Owner. You take responsibility for outcomes, not tasks, and you stay with a problem until it is structurally fixed. • Architect who operates. You design systems and then live with them in production, and that shapes how you design. • Multiplier. You measure your impact by how much faster and better the engineers around you become. • Strategic thinker. You weigh trends, constraints, and business goals to decide what to build, defer, or rework, and you can explain the decision to anyone. • Collaborative and proactive. You build alignment across teams without authority and you bring ideas before being asked. • Works with honesty and integrity. You earn trust with internal and external stakeholders and do what is right, not just what is expedient. You have: • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience. • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including several years at Staff level or above owning production Ruby on Rails and React systems. • Proven ownership of multi-service or multi-team architecture, including integrations with third-party enterprise systems. • Strong operational excellence: observability, on-call, performance, testing, CI/CD, and a habit of designing out recurring failures. • Experience setting standards or patterns adopted beyond your own team, and mentoring engineers to the next level. • Solid command of Postgres, GraphQL, background job pipelines, testing frameworks, and Git. • Fluency with AI-assisted development and the judgment to coach others on it. • Excellent verbal and written communication in English and Portuguese. • Experience working with English environments is preferred. • Previous start-up experience is a plus. • Healthcare, scheduling, or marketplace domain experience is a plus. Previous start-up experience is a plus. Experience working with US companies is preferred. We offer: • Competitive compensation in Brazil • Stock options • CLT Hiring • Bradesco Nacional health plan • Life insurance fully paid for by the company • Investment of R$1.000,00 to equip your home office • Food or meal voucher of R$33,00/day • Home office assistance in the amount of R$250,00/month • We send a laptop and some peripheral devices Reasonably anticipates the below to be the monthly base salary range for this role. The final compensation for this position will vary based on geographic location and candidate experience relative to what reasonably anticipates for this position. We are committed to transparency, and any compensation questions will be addressed early in our recruitment process. First-quarter success By the end of the first quarter, you’ve earned the team’s trust as the person who can unblock hard technical problems and keep the On-Demand platform moving reliably. You’ve clarified the architecture, documented key decisions, improved at least one high-leverage area such as observability, testing, or integration reliability, and helped reduce recurring production issues. Product and engineering are aligned on sequencing and trade-offs, and the team is already working with stronger technical habits, clearer review standards, and better use of AI-assisted workflows. What we need you to tackle We’re looking for a senior technical leader with 10+ years of software engineering experience, including staff-level or higher impact, who has led architecture end to end and can operate hands-on in production. You should have strong Ruby on Rails experience, plus solid React, Postgres, GraphQL, background jobs, observability, testing, and CI/CD skills, ideally in multi-service environments with third-party integrations. The right person is an owner, a clear communicator in English and Portuguese, comfortable challenging assumptions respectfully, and genuinely excited to use AI-assisted development to make the team faster and better.

This is a full-stack role requiring depth across a Ruby on Rails backend, modern front-end technologies (Vue 3, SvelteKit), and complex AWS infrastructure. As a Staff Engineer, you are a technical leader in day-to-day engineering. You drive direction through architectural ownership of the systems your team builds, high-impact code contributions, and cross-team influence. You'll work within a platform ecosystem of microservices deployed across our AWS regions, helping ensure we meet rigorous FedRAMP Moderate, SOC 2, and ISO 27001 standards. Our front-end is actively evolving — we're rewriting our micro-frontends (MFEs) to Vue 3 — so you'll both shape that migration and keep our current SvelteKit application healthy. You lead through your engineering, your judgment, and your ability to bring other engineers along with you. What You'll Build • Full-stack product features and subsystems: Ruby on Rails APIs, GraphQL endpoints, and Vue 3 / SvelteKit + TypeScript front-ends that ship real value to a global customer base • The Vue 3 front-end direction: owning key parts of the micro-frontend (MFE) rewrite onto Vue 3, setting patterns others build on, while keeping the existing SvelteKit application maintainable • GraphQL APIs at scale: schema design, batch loading, and query complexity management for high-traffic, multi-tenant access patterns • Event-driven services: EventBridge/SQS-based communication between microservices, with an emphasis on idempotency, reliability, and asynchronous processing at scale • Serverless background processing: evolving and optimizing our Lambda-backed worker framework (400+ workers) that powers the product's async workload • Multi-tenant data strategy: architecting patterns across MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and Redis while maintaining strict tenant isolation and compliance guarantees • Infrastructure-as-Code: Terraform modules and GitLab CI/CD pipelines that provision and deploy services across multiple environments and regions • Technical direction: architecture reviews, Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), and cross-team coordination on changes that reach beyond a single service Essential Responsibilities • Develops software using the KnowBe4 Software Development Lifecycle and Agile methodologies • Assists other team members by providing technical direction • Defines approaches and solutions to complex technical problems • Owns the evolution of major subsystems within the team's domain • Translates KnowBe4's strategic goals into technical roadmaps in collaboration with Product, Security, and Infrastructure teams • Sets the bar for code quality and engineering patterns through rigorous reviews and technical guidance for senior engineers • May act as technical lead for larger sub-projects or entire small projects Skills Requirements • Backend & Systems — 5+ years scaling production Ruby on Rails applications; expertise in GraphQL (batch loading, complexity management) and relational databases tuning (MySQL/PostgreSQL) for high-traffic, multi-tenant systems • Frontend — Strong proficiency with a modern component framework and strict TypeScript; Vue 3 experience is preferred given our MFE direction, and SvelteKit experience is highly valued for our current codebase (React also translates well); proven ability to lead large-scale front-end work using Vite and Tailwind CSS • Cloud — Deep experience with AWS (ECS/Fargate, Lambda, EventBridge, SQS, S3); strong proficiency with Terraform for Infrastructure-as-Code and GitLab CI/CD • Distributed Systems — Experience designing event-driven architectures and managing asynchronous processing at scale; sound judgment on eventual consistency, idempotency, and failure handling • Technical Leadership — Demonstrated experience at the Staff level: writing ADRs, driving design across a team, and building for compliance-regulated environments (FedRAMP / SOC 2 / ISO 27001) • AI-assisted development — Comfortable using modern AI coding tools (e.g., Claude / Claude Code) to accelerate delivery, review, and problem-solving; we actively embrace these tools and value engineers who use them thoughtfully to raise both speed and quality, and who help their teams do the same Preferred / Nice-to-Have • Experience leading a front-end framework migration end-to-end • Deep experience scaling production Rails under real traffic • Serverless background-processing frameworks at scale • DynamoDB / Redis data modeling for high-throughput workloads • Familiarity with compliance-regulated environments (FedRAMP, SOC 2, ISO 27001) • Track record of integrating AI tooling into team engineering workflows (code generation, review, test scaffolding, automation) Education & Experience • BS or equivalent plus 10 years of experience • MS or equivalent plus 5 years of experience • Ph.D. or equivalent plus 4 years of experience Our Fantastic Benefits We offer company-wide bonuses based on monthly sales targets, employee referral bonuses, adoption assistance, tuition reimbursement, certification reimbursement, and certification completion bonuses - all in a modern, high-tech, and fun work environment. Descrição

About Us Circle is building the world’s leading AI-powered, all-in-one platform for digital businesses. We make it possible for creators, coaches, educators, and businesses to bring together their audience with engaging discussions, live streams, events, chat, courses, and payments — all in one place, all under their own brand. We’re proud to be a fully remote company of around 270 (and growing!) team members from 30+ countries around the world. We seek exceptional individuals around the world, set them up to do the best work of their lives, and in turn, create a meaningful impact in their own lives. We don't track hours, but we do manage for high expectations very closely. We collaborate across time zones, are highly async, and like to document a lot. Every year, we bring the whole company together in beautiful places around the world for our company offsites. So far, we’ve hosted offsites in Turkey, Portugal, Mexico, Thailand, Colombia, Italy, Ireland, and more, with still more to come! Check out our Careers page for more about working at Circle. About The Role The AI Quality engineering team at Circle owns the foundation for measuring, diagnosing, and improving the quality of Circle's AI-powered features. This team focuses on building the infrastructure to measure, diagnose, and improve production AI systems, rather than ML research or model training. We're looking for a Lead Engineer to help us build out the evaluation frameworks, observability tooling, and diagnostic infrastructure that tell us whether our AI Agents are working well, where to improve them, and how to make them faster and more cost-efficient. This is a hands-on player-coach role. You’ll also lead and manage the AI Quality engineering team, with an ambitious and growing roadmap. If you're excited about making AI systems work reliably, efficiently, and at scale, this is for you. What You'll Be Doing • Build and own our evaluation infrastructure. Design the CI/CD pipelines, scorers, and datasets that tell us whether Circle's AI agents (planners, tool-callers, and sub-agents) are actually working, from a single tool call to a full multi-turn conversation. • Diagnose exactly where quality breaks down. Trace failures across the agent pipeline including plan creation vs. execution, tool selection, tool trajectory in complex areas like workflows, site builder, and analytics. Turn what you find into prototypes that solve the issue or identify priorities for AI core engineering can help. • Grow the datasets that make evaluation possible. Stand up annotation workflows and build out AI-generated and simulated conversations so we can cover more of the product faster than manual labeling alone. • Run structured experiments across prompts, models, and the agent harness. Evaluate new and open-source models against our production baseline, build the framework we use to decide when to shift models, and chase cost and latency wins through model swaps, caching, and routing by plan complexity. • Lead and grow the AI Quality engineering team. Set technical direction and manage day-to-day priorities, all while staying hands-on in the code yourself. • Partner closely with AI Core engineering. Work with the engineers building Circle's AI products so they have real confidence that their changes are actually improving quality, not just shipping. What You'll Need To Be Successful • 7+ years of experience building and shipping production software, ideally including LLM-powered agents that take real actions in a product. You've worked on complex, tool-using systems (multiple tools, planning or orchestration, sub-agents) not just simple, single-turn assistants, and you can walk us through something you shipped and how you knew it was actually working. • Comfortable in Ruby on Rails / Python or ready to pick them up quickly. Ruby on Rails is our production system and the foundation that Circle’s AI Agents are built on and proficiency in Python is a strong plus, especially for the data and evaluation side of the work. • Experience building evaluation or observability infrastructure for ML/AI systems. You've built eval pipelines, scorers, dashboards, or CI/CD for evals before and have experience with evaluation frameworks like Braintrust, LangSmith, or similar. • Experience designing datasets, annotation workflows, or labeling pipelines for ML/AI evaluation. You know how to turn raw examples into a dataset you can trust through human annotation, AI-generated data, or simulation. • Learn fast, experiment aggressively, and thrive in a highly dynamic environment. You’ll need to be comfortable running a lot of experiments and letting the results settle the argument, including the ones that don't work (which will be many of them in the beginning). • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity. You’ll need to learn and pick up new technologies when projects require it. • Strong alignment with our company values. • You are proficient in English (spoken, written, and reading) at a CEFR Level C2 / ILR Level 5. Compensation & Benefits Circle offers U.S.-benchmarked compensation globally, equity in the company with ongoing refresh grants, and 35 days of paid time off each year.
